Problem 6.10 Projection of Solids – A sphere of diameter 60 mm say the sphere “M”, rests on a point of its periphery on H.P. Another two spheres of diameter 40 mm sphere “A” and 20 mm sphere “B” respectively are nailed on the sphere “M” such that the axis from the centers of the spheres A & B are perpendicular to each other and equally inclined with the vertical center line of the sphere “M”. Draw its projections.
Step-1 Draw a horizontal x-y line of some suitable length.
Step-2 Draw a circle of diameter 60 mm, on the x-y line, as shown into the figure. And give the notations.
Step-3 From the center of this circle, draw tow center lines in such a way that these two center lines should start from the center of the circle of diameter 60 mm and are equally inclined with the vertical center line of the previously drawn circle which is at the angle 45°. Now on these equally inclined center lines draw two circles of diameter 40 mm and 20 mm respectively such that these two circles should touch with the circle of diameter 60 mm as shown in the figure. And give the notations. It is front view.
Step-4 From the centers of the previously drawn circles,draw vertical downward projectors up to some suitable distance below the x-y line, as shown into the figure. On these projectors draw a horizontal center line parallel to x-y line at some suitable distance, and mark three points on them on the projectors coming from the previously drawn circles.
Step-5 With these points as center points, draw the circles of respective radius, which are 30 mm, 20 mm and 10 mm & give the notations as shown into the figure. But be careful that the parts of the circles are dotted because of hidden. It is the top view.
Step-6 Now draw a x’-y’ line perpendicular with x-y line and on the right of front view, as shown into the figure. Now transfer the centers of the previously drawn circles on the right side of x’-y’ line as shown into the figure, and give the notations.
Step-7 After getting the center points, draw circles of radii equal to 10 mm ,20 mm & 30 mm respectively as shown into the figure.But be careful that the parts of the circles are dotted because of hidden. It is the Left Hand Side View.
Step-8 Give the dimensions by any one method of dimensions and give the notations as shown into the figure.
